To the left I have posted a Glogster that features some of my favorite professional resources! Whenever I am stuck in a planning rut or I feel that my activities and curriculum could use a bit of a pick-me-up, I turn to any of these resources in order to sharpen my skills. Currently, I find myself pulling a lot of ideas from the PE central website. This website is an interactive forum that is great for pooling ideas and creating new curricular units. Whenever I feel that I need some more scholarly, scientific information about the latest trends in teaching health and physical education, I turn to AAHPERD (The American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance). I am a Graduate member of this organization and I receive their publication, JOPERD (The Journal of Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance) once a month through the mail. |
![]() My mentor, Brian Billings, has been my #1 resource for knowledge pertaining to managing a successful physical education program as well as being a successful athletic director. An ongoing relationship with Brian and my co-resident, Danielle Dummel will give me plenty of opportunities to gain an outside perspective and collaborate over physical education and athletic programs. | ![]() AUSL's cohort model has proven to be extremely effective with cohort 6, AKA, "The Chicago Dawgs." Through holding each other accountable with our coursework via our Facebook group page or debriefing the week of teaching during numerous lunches and after school hangout sessions we have established ourselves as a professional network of educators that will continue into next year as we take the reigns of our own classrooms. |
In order to stay up to date with the happenings not only in the American educational system, but also the world's I look towards Smart brief. | Edmodo was a great way for my cohort to connect. If I have the means, I would love to incorporate edmodo into my future teaching as I create class pages that would display note, assignments, and comments for all students to see. |
Stress Relief!
No need to look any further than family, friends, heavy weights, and a stage...
When the Pressures of teaching seem like they are too much to handle, you may be able to find my wife and I relaxing while watching some of our favorite TV shows. If you can not find me at my apartment, go look at any local X sport fitness center on the west side where I like to experiment with different bodybuilding routines in order to increase my size and strength. Lastly, if I cannot be found at either of those locations, look towards the Second City Training Center where I am a part of their professional Conservatory program.
Also, come and see my improv team, "Them," performing on various stages throughout the city.
